Current Courier Conditions

Summer’s here, and the cottage beckons.

In the last decade, telecommuting has gone from a utopian pipe dream to a cherished reality.

Thanks to better networks, more and better mobile devices, and employers who realize that a happy, rested worker is more productive, more and more people are able to mix their leisure time with their work time. Because a lot of work has become location independent, it’s become possible to extend your weekend into the week.

In Winnipeg, our summer is short. It’s great to be able to take full advantage of the limited number of sunny, warm days we have.

The tools of the telecommuter are digital – Email, LinkedIn, DropBox, SkyDrive. Anything that can be digitized can be sent over the computer network, bringing your work to you and the fruits of your labours back to the office. A modern smartphone is hundreds of times more powerful than a full-sized computer was only a few decades ago, and a modern Internet connection puts an unfathomable amount of information at our fingertips.

Sometimes, however, the thing that you need, or that the office needs from you can’t be digitized and sent over a computer network. Until we have Star Trek’s transporter capabilities, there will still be contracts requiring signatures, information will still need to be printed on paper, and some data will be just too sensitive to send over public Wi-Fi networks.

That’s where Sierra Courier comes in – we move real things, thousands of them every day. We’re not strangers to Manitoba’s cottage country, and if you need an important package delivered to your dock, we’ll get it there with the same dedication and efficiency that we use to bring it to your desk downtown.

We’ve seen a lot of changes to the way Winnipeg does business since we started in 1976. The advent of the fax machine, the internet, and now mobile computing have had a fantastic impact on companies agile enough to embrace technology and use it to improve the way they interact with their employees and customers. We’ve done the same, and though many people predicted that these innovations would hurt our business, we have grown into one of Canada’s largest privately held messenger services.

To speak to a representative at Sierra Courier, call toll free 866-575-ASAP (2727) or 204-632-8920 from the Winnipeg area. We want to help you do business from your beach chair!
